The Dalhousie Regional High School boys write themselves into history with their first ever title in boys basketball as they take down the John Caldwell School Golden Knights 51 – 46 at TD Station in Saint John today.
The Condors controlled things out of the gate as John Caldwell could not solve the Condors’ full court 1-3-1 defence in the first quarter. Dalhousie Region led 12 – 5 after 10 minutes of play. The Condors continued with more of the same in the first half of the second period, but then John Caldwell found their stride. DRHS took the second 16 – 15 as they headed into halftime with a 28 – 20 advantage.
John Caldwell continued to find their game in the third as Dalhousie began to struggle. The Golden Knights outpaced the Condors 18 – 7 in the third and now it was John Caldwell with the lead 38 – 35 with just ten minutes left to play. In the fourth it would be Dalhousie that found their scoring touch again and they doubled JCS 16 – 8 in the final frame for the 51 – 46 victory, their first in school history for the boys program.
