Mariners find success fishing for their first-ever Girls AA title.
Fundy’s hot shooting gave them an early lead and they sailed to victory as they held strong against a second-half surge from the Riverhawks.
It was all Fundy early as they jump out in front 21 – 9 after ten minutes of play. The second period would go to the Mariners 19 – 13 and they took a 40 – 22 lead into halftime. The Riverhawks took flight in the third and would take it to Fundy 18 – 7 in the frame; now it was a contest.
We would head to the fourth with Fundy in front 47 – 40. RNS ran out of gas in the fourth as Mariner coach Ryan Daye kept his troops fresh all game with great player rotations. Fundy would take the 4th period 23 – 10 for the 70 – 50 win.
Fundy Player of the Game, Meg Ingalls scored 19 points and grabbed 9 boards. Erin Ingalls collected 7 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists, with every Mariner player scoring in the game.
Ally McLellan scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Riverhawks and collect their Player of The Game award. Sabrina Purich added 17 points and Sophie Milner chipped in with 8 points, 12 boards and 7 dimes.
This is the first-ever Girls AA title for the Fundy Mariners.
