St. Stephen Come up Big in 4th
- Updated: February 25, 2024
The St. Stephen Spartans got behind early and hung around until the 4th when they turned it around for the huge come from behind victory, our 3rd of the weekend.
Rothesay Netherwood came out like a team on a mission in the opening quarter as they took a commanding 18 – 6 lead after ten minutes. Both teams put up 13 points in the second quarter and the Riverhawks were up 31 – 19 as they headed into the halftime break.
The two teams just traded blows in the third period as St. Stephen outscored RNS 23 – 22, and we would go to the 4thquarter with Rothesay Netherwood ahead 53 – 42. It was the Spartans’ deep threats that took over in the fourth and St. Stephen put up 31 points in the quarter, allowing only 13 for the 6 point comeback win, taking the game 73 – 67, for the title that eluded them last season.
Leading the way for St. Stephen were a trio of NBIAA All-Stars. Player of the Game, Beth Harris put up 28 points, off of 7 threes. Aislyn Burns added 23 points and Anna Somers chipped in with 15.
Rothesay Netherwood were led by NBIAA All-Star and Player of the Game Nalatia Colley who scored 27 points and added 10 rebounds, and 7 assists for the double-double. Another NBIAA All-Star, Cara Palk added 13 points and Maggie Robson contributed 11 point
Congratulations to the St. Stephen Spartans for their AA Girls Championship win!!!
