Mariners Sail to Victory for First AA Boys Crown

The Fundy Mariners showed their strength in the opening half of the AA Boys title game and cruised to victory, claiming their first Provincial banner in AA boys basketball.
The Mariner came out and won the first quarter 22 – 13 to grab the early 9 point lead after 10 minutes of play. The second quarter was disastrous for Sainte-Anne as they were outscored 30 – 6, and the Mariners went into halftime with a 52 – 19 lead. Fundy dominated the boards in the first half 40 – 15.
Fundy continued their winning ways in the third as they won the period 23 – 17 and headed into the final quarter with a 75 – 36 advantage. Sainte-Anne were able to have their best quarter of the game in the 4th, but were still outscored 20 – 18 and the Mariners cruised to the championship win 95 – 54.
The Mariners were led by NBIAA All-Star and Player of the Game, Fritz Cantero who dropped 37 points, include 4 / 7 from downtown. He added 8 rebounds and 5 assists. NBIAA All-Star Charlie Craig added 21 points to go along with 18 boards for his double-double. Jack Leavitt chipped in with 13 points in the winning cause.
Sainte-Anne were led by Player of the Game Noah Boudreau as he had 23 points and 8 rebounds. NBIAA All-Star Thomas Lacroix chipped in with 10 points of his own.
