NBIAA Final 12

Saints Win First AAA Girls Title

The St. Malachy’s Saint jumped out in front and led this one wire to wire to win their first AAA girls title in school history.

The #3 ranked Saints got the start they wanted and after 10 minutes they held a 17 – 12 lead over the #6 ranked Harrison Trimble Trojans. In the second quarter, St. Malachy’s really began to pull away, scoring 24 in the quarter and only allowing 8 points from the Trojans. At halftime, it was now 41 – 20 for the Saints.

Harrison Trimble showed signs of life in the third as they started to cut into the St. Mac’s lead. The Tojans won the quarter 18 – 13, as the Saints headed into the fourth with a 54 – 38 advantage. Trimble would continue their improved play in the fourth as they outscored the Saints in the period, but it would not be enough, as St. Malachy’s would hold on for the 66 – 55 victory to win their first Provincial title.

The Saints were led by Player of the Game, Eva Knobloch, who scored 16 points. She was helped by NBIAA All-Star Clancy McIntyre, who added 15 and Grace Collins, who chipped in with 12 points from 4 threes.

Harrison Trimble were led by Ella Smith, who scored 16 points, Player of the Game Jill Campbell (15 points), and their NBIAA All-Star Kate Fillmore, who added 10 points.
