FHS defeats Moncton

McCarthy stays undefeated at TD Station to lift Kats over Knights and defend the title.
Both teams dealt with early foul trouble to their top players and Moncton struggled in the first half from the paint.
It was a tentative start to this one as Fredericton get the early jump and led 19 – 15 after 10 minutes. The teams would go back and forth and in the final minutes of the first half, they would trade threes as there were 7 three-pointers in the last 3 minutes. Big Kitty was up 37 – 36 at the half.
FHS would continue to find the scoring touch as they drop 20 in the 3rd but Moncton was keeping it close as they scored 17. This game headed to the final period with the Black Kats up 57 – 53 with ten minutes to go.
The Champs will pull away in the final stanza and outscore the Purple Knights 24 – 9 for the 81 – 62 victory to claim the AAA Girls Championship. Fredericton was led by their All-Star and Player of the Game Allie McCarthy who recorded a game-high 27 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double. Paige LeBlanc adds 14, Kristen Taylor contributed 12 while Eavan McLaughlin chipped in with 10. The Purple Knights were led by their Player of The Game Kelsie Alward who scored 21 points to go with her 10 boards for her double-double. Senior Taylor Wood added 16 for Moncton. Fredericton’s Allie McCarthy is now 5 – 0 in the Final Twelve, including 2 in a row with the Black Kats.
