SSNB Final 12

Thunder Storm Back to Defend AA Girl’s Title

Thunder overcome 11 point 2nd quarter deficit to defend Provincial Championship.

Carleton North built up an early lead then the wheels fell off early in the second quarter as Woodstock erased the lead and then some, never looking back to capture back to back titles.

Carleton North started this game hot and held the Thunder to 11 points as they put 18 on the board to lead by 7 after 10 minutes of play. In the second quarter, the Stars built that lead up to 11 and threatened to pull away but then the rims seemed to have a lid on them for Carleton North as the Thunder too the second quarter 23 – 5 and now WHS headed into halftime with 34 – 23 lead.

Woodstock continued to pull away early in the third, but Carleton North started to find a little success. Woodstock take the third quarter 19 – 16, and would hold a 53 – 39 lead with 10 minutes to play. The fourth quarter was fairly even as the Stars could not really mount an offensive attack as the Thunder took the 4th 12 – 10 and win the game 65 – 49 to repeat as champs

The Thunder were led by Lily Farrell who scored a game high 20 points, including 5 / 10 from downtown. Player of the game, and SSNB All Star, Mya Jewett added 18 points and 5 assists, and Alex Clowes chipped in with 10 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists for her double-double.

Carleton North were led by SSNB All Star Noella Thomas who scored 20 points, had 13 rebounds, and added 5 assists for the double-double. Addison Lovely, their other SSNB All Star, chipped in with 11 points.

Congratulations to the Woodstock High School Thunder on their Back-To-Back Championships!!!
