Harvey Claims 10th Single A Boys Title

Harvey get down early, chip away at the lead and take their first lead of the game with 2:02 left in the 3rd quarter. FCA would not go away easily and led by 3 with just less than 3 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The Lakers would come back again and this time hold the lead for good in what could be the game of the weekend at TD Station. There were 23 made 3 pointers in this game.
Fredericton Christian Academy flew out of the gates on fire. They could not miss and Harvey struggle to find easy buckets. The Eagles took a commanding lead, 30 – 16 after just 10 minutes of play. Harvey start the second period on a 7 – 3 run and the two traded baskets the rest of the quarter as FCA lead by 10 at the break, 43 – 33.
Harvey start the third on a 10 – 4 run over the first 3:14 and the two teams once again just traded punches for the next three and a half minutes. Over the final 3 minutes of the 3rd, the Harvey Lakers would go on another mini run which saw them take their first lead of the game with 2:02 remaining in the quarter but the period would end 60 – 60. The Lakers and Eagles would trade blows again over the first 5 minutes of the 4th and with 5:03 on the clock it was still knotted, 65 – 65. FCA led 68 – 65 with 3 minutes to play but Harvey would take the lead for good with less than 2 minutes to go and pull away for the 78 – 70 win.
The Harvey Lakers were led by their Player of The Game, Ryan McElwain, who scored 27 points and added 10 assists for the double-double. He got support from Nolan Smith with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for another double-double, and Hudson Mason, who added 15 points (5 3-pointers) and 7 boards.
Fredericton Christian Academy were led by Luke Kaley’s 21 points and 5 rebounds, and the Eagles Player of the Game, Jesse Vance, who scored 17 points (5 3-Pointers) and 7 boards. SSNB All Star, Ebuka Ezeokafor also scored 17 points, 16 rebounds, and 5 assists for an impressive double-double.
