Black Kats Grab 38th Championship
- Updated: February 23, 2025
The top ranked Black Kats knock off the #2 Rothesay Red Hawks in foul filled battle at TD Station. Rothesay made it interesting, but ran out of steam as FHS pulled away late in the second half.
The Black Kats and Red Hawks fought hard from the opening tip-off and when the dust settled after 10 minutes, it was Fredericton 21, Rothesay 14. Rothesay put a dent into the FHS lead in the 2nd quarter, but before the first half ended the Black Kats expanded their lead to 12, up 48 – 36.
Much like the second quarter, Rothesay looked to cut into the lead, but again Fredericton had an answer over the final five minutes of the third and pushed their lead to 71 – 57 with just 10 minutes to play. There would not be a response from Rothesay in the fourth, as the Black Kats pulled away for good, winning 90 – 62.
Fredericton was led by Ilija Babic with 24 points, and NBIAA All-star and Player of the Game Jake Christie with 20 points.
Rothesay High were led by their NBIAA All-star and player of the game, Colin Tilley with a game high 32 points
Congrats to the Fredericton Black Kats on the AAA Boys Championship!!!
